Why Dark Sky?
While creating this company, we wanted to pay homage to where we live and the special beauty of Northern Arizona. Flagstaff, Arizona was the world's first International Dark Sky Community, designated by the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) in 2001. This recognition has brought attention to the importance of preserving dark skies and has inspired other communities around the world to follow in their footsteps. Many other Arizona cities followed suit including Sedona and Tucson. Dark Sky Cities are important because they help preserve the beauty of the night sky and protect the environment by reducing light pollution. By limiting unnecessary lighting, Dark Sky Cities also save energy and reduce costs associated with excessive lighting. Additionally, dark skies promote human health by regulating the circadian rhythm and reducing the negative impacts of artificial lighting on wildlife.

My name is Krista Drake
About me...
I love art and design, I always have. A creative kid, drawing, painting and any sort of "creating" was a constant for me. I surrounded myself with color and patterns at an early age (think "Punky Brewster!") and HAD to have a decorated pulled together space of my "own making". It was a necessity for me to feel comfortable and unique and have a safe haven. Home should be a comfortable, creative expression of who we are, who we've been, and who we want to be. I love how it changes and grows as we change and grow.
Experience and Background...
17 years as an Art Director for a bustling contemporary art gallery allowed me to use my love and passion for art daily to help people create unique and special spaces in their homes. I especially loved the challenge of connecting the right artwork to the customer and their home. Being a voice for the artists and the art was also incredibly satisfying and rewarding.

My name is Erin Brinkman
About me...
I am an Arizona native originally from Apache Junction and have lived in Flagstaff for the last 22 years. I grew up with a big loving family in a beautiful house on lots of land. We always had freshly cooked dinners at the table and big birthday and holiday celebrations. My family was my first teacher, instilling a lifelong love of learning and entrepreneurship. I feel incredibly lucky to have grown up with such wonderful and supportive people.
Experience and Background...
My exposure to, and love of French and Art from a very early age, has influenced my pursuits in life. From teaching French in the USA and English in France, to being a full-time artist or an art sales consultant, I have consistently been immersed in what I love. All of these activities have allowed me to explore the best parts of myself and the world. Anytime I get to share what I love, or inspire others to enjoy life is a treat. Finding what is valuable in life has been the thread of my happiness.
